what's that smell??

We looked at a house in uplands that was for sell for a decent price. Well we found out why it was a such a cheap price compared to other houses of the same size and so forth. It needed a fair amount of work. The kitchen cupboards were nice, the windows were like new and the bathroom tub and surround was decent.. but it hasn't been painted for over 20 years .. or it seems like it.. (You say .. but gil .. that's not a big deal! .. well lets go on shall we?). The flooring needs to be replaced, but is doable .. actually it is reported that there is hardwood underneath. But probably the most disturbing issue was when you walked inside there was this indescribable funk smell. That smelled like cabbage, dogs and death. It was such a foul odor at first.. We saw people who walked in and then walked right out within seconds saying.. "something is definitely wrong there..".. And in the front entrance where the odor was the strongest was this huge crack in the ceiling that was splitting open like the red sea. Was the smell in the attic perhaps? ..we are not sure...

We still haven't heard back about the final bank say of the people who are buying our house.. but no news is good news I guess. There were so many people who were there to look at that house in uplands that I think it is going to be snatched up before we would get a chance to put an offer on it anyway. Nice area .. but .. man .. that smell... I don't know if that is something you would ever be able to get out.

.. something tells me that we are going to be renting for a month or too.. But I am not giving up all hope just yet.

They probably just store the dead bodies in the attic. It should go away fine once you clear them away and sprinkle some lime around.

Don't you think that the owners should have figured out and fixed what that smell was before they put it on the market? If there wasn't a foul odor, then you could probably put up with the fact that the house needs a little work. But then I guess the house would have been sold already if the smell wasn't there especially since it is in a prime real estate location being so close to me! Ha Ha
