my song for Leanne

This is the video for my song that I always dedicated to my wife. My friends surpised me and played a version of this when I entered into the room for our wedding. I was a blubbering mess. Sit back and enjoy XTC's "Mayor of Simpleton".

I also sang a version of this at Colin and Megan's wedding during the Karaoke party. Boy did that suck!

feel the base!!

Amy came over and we finished the baseboards at the back entrance of the house. Amy also finished the closet flooring for us as well. Unfortunately it seems that her knees have taken a beating for it. It's good to know that I am a pain in the knee as well as a pain in the ass!

The other good thing is that I actually got the annoying crack fixed between my hallway and kitchen. I had to take the baseboard off and rip a new asshole into the wall .. but thankfully the baseboard covers the mess that was had by that. The new people that are going to be buying my house better be happy with the baseboards that I put in the back porch and bedrooms .. because they sure aren't going to be able to remove them easily.

The real estate agent will be coming over to our house on Wednesday night and we will begin the first step of hopefully putting our house up for sale soon. Its going to suck to move in a way. I really will miss my house.

house #3

We went an looked at a house today. The house was set at a not bad price but then when we looked inside I was quite disappointed. There was less room in the house then the one I am currently in right now. The only plus to it was the back yard that opened to a school area park. But other than that? .. crap. Now I understand why it was at the price it was set at. Avonlea is gettin better and better. This is now the thrid house that we looked at after deciding to move .. and the first 2 in Avonlea were waaaaaaayy better.

I guess part of the reason why I was really disappointed with it was because I always thought it was one of the cooler looking houses in Uplands when I was a kid. It was tall and had big huge windows on the side facing to the park. I always thought it looked so hip and modern. Since then they redid the outside of it and the huge glass walls on the back of the house were no longer there. Lets just say everyone who lived in Uplands remembered that house.. and now.. It's forgettable.

I can't believe it

This evening marked the first time in a long long long long long long long long time that I was able to play a video game. Leanne went to the farm with the kids and didn't get back until later in the evening. So I actually had a couple of hours to myself without the kids climbing on me. It made me realize. I completely suck at playing video games now.

Sesame Street: Old School/ Colonel Sanders

YES!!! I just noticed that they are going to be releasing some of the original sesame street on DVD. The first volume is going to be from 1969 to 1974. Man .. I MUST OWN THIS SET!!!

Also, Ahmad sent me this link that he came across of an interview with Colonel Sanders from almost 50 years ago. Classic stuff. Canadian food has no outstanding characteristic, none whatsoever, says Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise. The colonel tells CBC's Joe Taylor that there wasn't one dish he particularly enjoyed on his trips across Canada, describing Canadian fare as "plumb tasteless!"

120 inches of lovin'

Went for the classic Western Pizza breakfast this morning. Now I am not sure if the eggs were not cooked right or what.. but man .. my gas has just been killer all night. I feel sorry for leanne in the bed this evening.

Looked at puppies at the pet store again today. There was a couple of cuties, but they wanted a 1000 bucks for them. Nope. There is no way I am going to spend that much on an animal. I would have to have my projector first. I can get just as much love and affection from a 120 or so inch projected screen on my wall.. and I wouldn't even have to feed it!

I have come to the conclusion that I am going to find a house in Avonlea to buy. I want out of Regina. End of Story.

give me a 'L', give me an 'I', give me a 'N', give me an 'O'. .. what's that spell!!! what's that spell!!!

Rob came over today and we got the linoleum done in the back porch entrance. Thank god that is done now. It is going to seem strange to go into the laundry room and not walk over the big roll of flooring that has been sitting there for the last year or so. Rob and I made a pretty good team. He did the work and I made the mess. I had that damn glue all over me. It got everywhere. There was even a moment when I put my hand against the wall to balance myself an then when I took it off I took some paint and a layer of the drywall underneath. That adhesive was pretty strong stuff.

It was great of him to help me. But I am sure I will be able to make it up to him when he is ready to finish drywalling his basement. He will likely regret it .. but I will definately help him out.

Leanne and I had a date last night and went and saw The Prestige. We both came to the same conclusion. Hugh Jackman is definately better looking as Wolferine.

Speaking of dates, Leanne and I now have a plan for our sixth wedding anniversary thanks to Maria!! We are going to go see the Just For Laughs Comedy Tour 2006 on the 10th. It looks like it will be a great show. We are both so excited to see the show!! THANKS MARIA!!!

James and Kevin Show

Here is some classic James & Kevin that never aired. Here they are trying to convince the small town of Pense locals (15 min drive outside of Regina, where my friends Dae and Rob live) that they are going become part of the city's bus service.

better late then never

Congratulations go out to my buddies Hema and Amber and their new little addition, Nigel Dane Stirling Stulberg who was born September 25, 2006 at 9:10 p.m. He weighed 5 pounds 6 ounces at birth. I wanted to originally put something in the blog when I first heard about it but I was not allowed. Hence why I added the Dane Cook posting. But now.. is better late then never

Speaking of better late then never. I have been meaning to say Happy Birthday to Lincoln out there wherever you may be. Lincoln email me with your latest email address and home phone number and new address, I don't have that stuff either.

Love to all of my friends because it is just that kind of a day.

Saskatchwan, it seems, is turning into "the place to be". I think we should make a giam garbage heap like mount pleasant, but 20 times bigger, and put big letters on the side of it reading SASKAWOOD LAND.

A filmmaker who is co-producing a movie with Charlize Theron has some sage advice for the Oscar-winning star and other Hollywood types as they prepare for shooting in Saskatchewan this fall. Dress warmly. "I don't think they understand how cold it is going to get," said Infinity Features producer Rob Merilees. Theron, in Regina for two weeks, has been spotted at the Rolling Stones and Black Eyed Peas concerts, and at Friday's football game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Montreal Alouettes. Currently the production crew is scouting locations in Regina and Moose Jaw for the film Ferris Wheel. Theron will have a lead role in front of the cameras, while her production company, Denver and Delilah, is co-producing the movie with Vancouver-based Infinity and FilmEngine. Shooting is expected to begin Nov. 3 and wrap up in mid-December.

My friend Adrienne has already met her. I wonder if I will ever spot her. Probably not. Hell, I would just be happy to meet the Corner Gas stars like Brett did.

Lungbutter - Lost, "The Silent Movie"

I have been fighting with trying to convert the unfinished lungbutter video, but for some reason I can't seem to get the audio to go when I convert it to avi. I thought I would post it anyway for now and then repost it when I get the audio. Just "imagine" the song "lost" playing with it for now. When we made the vide, the movie "Blair Witch Project" was the "big thing" at the time. So the original idea was to spoof the movie. Here it is without the credits and of course the sound.

Hopefully I will get get my audio finished soon. If any of you have any ideas of what I can do, please feel free to comment.

quality time

My family was invited to spend the morning at Rob & Nancy's this morning. We went there and shared some quality time. Quality time is always good. .. I always get a sense of .. quality for quality time. Hmmm.. I guess that is why they probably call it quality time. It was today I realized how "physical" rob is. He can bend down on one leg. I know it doesn't sound like much to just read it, but you have to see it to believe it. If I had a video of it I would show you but I don't so you would just have to imagine it.

This evening we painted the back porch area.. and now with the 3rd paint color that we purchased from RONA.. .it doesn't look anything like the color that we wanted... just like the kids rooms. I would care more if we planning on living in the house for a long period of time.. but I don't so I wont. It still looks better then what was there before though. But I tell ya man. I am never buying paint from RONA again. No ifs ands or butts.

...mmmmm ....butts ..

Leanne and I went with Ahmad and Michael to see a show at The Exchange last night (thanks to John and Amy, for without them the adventurous envening would not have happened): For those of you who may not know. John is a sound engineer and does sound for the majority of shows that come to Regina. Well at least at the Exchange that is.

SCOTTASTROPHE is a multimedia presentation by Scott Thompson, accompanied musically by Bob Wiseman and Magali Meagher. Like a good scientist, Scott steps back and investigates the unusual density of tragedy and surrealism to which he has been privy since ending The Kids In The Hall: potential lawsuits about racism and sexual harassment on the set of Touched by an Angel, behind the scenes on the Larry Sanders Show, trying to play a straight man (or alien) on Star Trek, the firebombing of his Los Angeles home by inflamed supporters of Saddam Hussein, his near death experience on a flight over Madagascar, his infamous hosting of the Griffin Award where he was physically removed and thrown into an alley by Daniel Richler, Scott Griffin and the poet laureate of Scotland, and worst of all, the suicide of his brother Dean...

The show was great. I thought it was hilarious. It was nice to get out and see something fresh for once. We met Scott and Bob after the show and I think I freaked Scott out a little bit. In true Gil fashion I gave him a big hug and said it was a great show. I think it caught him by surprise. Hell I was almost as goofy and stupid like when I met Jane Siberry (Issa) a couple of times. Ahmad also took a picture of John and I with Scott and Bob:
(left to right: Bob Wiseman, Scott Thompson, Me & John Bidochka)

Ahmad also took some other pictures from the show as well. If you got a chance check out his site listed in my links as well.

Everytime I make coffee at work, I can't help but think of the european lady in the old folgers coffee commercials that always says "ya!".. She reminds me of my dad's girlfriend if she was actually friendly and better looking. Unfortunately though, I couldn't find that commercial to tell you what I was talking about, but I did find one that is a personal favorite of my wife's and she laughs at it everytime she see's it. This is for her.

I recently got an email from my sister in regards to this post that made

Hey Brudda!
Is this the Folgers commercial that you are looking for?

This made me realise that I could have posted the link from where I originally saw the folgers commercial. It is from one of my favorite site. Internet Archive. Actually I think when I get a chance I will put it in the links on the right. There is a lot of great stuff to download there. I used to watch all of my stuff from there before youtube came out. But with this you actually have to download the files. So check them out if you are interested.

and .. speaking of folgers commercials .. here is another personal favorite. There should be more commercials like this on TV:

...and then she whipped me..

Thanks to Bill and Wendy for watching the kids. Leanne and I finally got the priming done in the back porch area.

While we were doing the painting, Leanne got me good. We were listening to Kiss while we were doing the work and then the song "Then she kissed me" came on. Leanne says, "They covered this song?" And I am saying .. what do you mean covered. This is thier song. And she is like. No.. This is a cover! .. Of course I then have to check it out on the internet. And .. yes .. she won. It was a Phil Spector cover, originally done by one of those girl bands.. the ronettes .. or something like that. She got me good, and I felt like a moron. She is getting better at her music and I totally have been slipping. I shall bow to her forever more.
